September 3, 1987 Pine Mountain Lake, California -- Stanislaus Complex Fire -- Stanislaus Forest Service firefighters move into position to monitor the backfire below Pine Mountain Lake. The Stanislaus Complex Fire consumed 28 structures and 145,980 acres. One US Forest Service firefighter, David Ross Erickson, died from a tree-felling accident.
