September 8, 1987 Yosemite National Park, California -- Stanislaus Complex Fire -- Groveland residents hang a banner across the highway to express their thanks to firefighters leaving the Stanislaus National Forest. The Stanislaus Complex Fire consumed 28 structures and 145,980 acres. One US Forest Service firefighter, David Ross Erickson, died from a tree-felling accident.
