September 1, 1987 Buck Meadows, California -- Stanislaus Complex Fire -- Crew foreman John W. Allendorf from Mendocino sets backfire to stop fire from running over fire camp. The Stanislaus Complex Fire consumed 28 structures and 145,980 acres. One US Forest Service firefighter, David Ross Erickson, died from a tree-felling accident.
