September 4, 1987 Greeley Hill, California – Stanislaus Complex Fire -- Volunteer firefighter Danny Watkins checks in before heading to his assignment. The Stanislaus Complex Fire consumed 28 structures and 145,980 acres. One US Forest Service firefighter, David Ross Erickson, died from a tree-felling accident.
