September 3, 1987 Buck Meadows, California -- Stanislaus Complex Fire -- Firefighters find a place to sit down to read the paper. The Stanislaus Complex Fire consumed 28 structures and 145,980 acres. One US Forest Service firefighter, David Ross Erickson, died from a tree-felling accident.
