September 3, 1987 Pine Mountain Lake, California -- Stanislaus Complex Fire -- Affected by the smoke, deer have nowhere to go so they wait in the trees near Pine Mountain Lake. The Stanislaus Complex Fire consumed 28 structures and 145,980 acres. One US Forest Service firefighter, David Ross Erickson, died from a tree-felling accident.
