August 13, 1990 Yosemite National Park -- A-Rock (Arch Rock) Fire -- Firefighter Pat Laeng takes break during backburning operations on Trumbull Peak. The Arch Rock Fire burned over 16,000 acres of Yosemite National Park and the Stanislaus National Forest. At the same time across the Merced River, the Steamboat Fire burned over 5,000 acres of both Yosemite National Park and the Sierra National Forest.
